Research has already been conducted as project evaluation research, with developmental goals. Due to the developmental aspect the ethics permit was not needed nor applied for the evaluation research conducted while I was an employee at A-Clinic Foundation. The research article will focus on the evaluation of a project funded by European Social Fund, ESF. The data has been collected between April-June 2018 in 5 different sites participating in the OK-project. Data was transcribed in July and has been analyzed since September 2018. Method is qualitative content analysis based on grounded theory. NVivo software is used for the data analysis purposes. I am applying the permit for the thesis report part of the process, which I need to complete to graduate.
This thesis will be a product-oriented thesis and the main product is a scientific research article. The research was carried through by a participatory method of co-research, and the thesis product, the research article, will be aimed for publishing in a Finnish peer-reviewed journal. The research has been carried out in collaboration with A-Clinic Foundation, and the thesis report will be completed without commissioning. The purpose of the research article is to evaluate the ESF Project OK, and also translate the research findings to healthcare and social work professionals, service users, students and social policy decision-makers. The purpose of the thesis report is to provide even more mutual understanding to all stakeholders, and possibly invite the church to take more interest on the controversial topic by the means of deacon work. Thesis report could be described as applied deacon work: working with the structures of society, bringing light to darkness. Product will also portray knowledge in the sphere of social services, and the thesis report will convey more of the understanding in the area of deacon/spiritual work.
