Prison-based drug treatment study
The research project Prison-Based Drug Treatment (PDT) in the Nordic Countries: Control and rehabilitation in welfare state institutions compared PDT at the level of political discourse, institutions and inmates’ experiences in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The data stemmed from a parallel research strategy in all these countries that considers historical documents and political debate, the first authorized PDT project and the most important PDT initiatives in each country, the policy of the prison services concerning PDT, participating observation, as well as qualitative interviews with key experts in the field, prison employees and inmates.
The project was supported by the Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOS-HS) and run by a consortium of Aarhus, Örebro and Oslo Universities and A-Clinic Foundation, Helsinki
